Askern Littlemoor is an average-sized infant academy (with Nursery) within Leger Education Trust and is a special place in so many ways. Visitors to our school often comment on the welcoming atmosphere and the approachable, professional and committed staff. We are also very lucky to have dedicated and highly effective governors, supportive and caring parents and super children. We have excellent resources and facilities, which contribute to a high quality learning environment, both indoors and outdoors.
Located in the ex-mining village of Askern, Littlemoor makes provision for currently around 180 pupils aged 3-7 years old in a building created in 1977 but which had an Early Years extension in 2007. Since then the learning spaces both indoor and outdoor have been regularly redesigned and updated to meet the needs of the children. We provide a wide range of activities to support pupils and the community.
An inter-generational session today with our Y2 children and clients from the Askarne Day Centre. We were thrilled that our Mayor, Ros Jones, was able to join us and give her support to this work. The children and clients made model sunflowers-great outcomes! @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/6yJgvo7AwJ
What a great way to start our Fit and Healthy week, by having a visit from the inspiring Dave Gibson from Skip2BFit. The children took part in a fitness circuit and our F2 children were amazing. The skipping skills of the KS1 children are impressive! @LegerEdTrust @skip2bfit https://t.co/bfr8swpH8b
Another wonderful week of learning in nursery, full of awe and wonder! The children had a visit from the storyteller Alec Williams and enjoyed deepening their knowledge and understanding of the life cycle of sunflowers. @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/61njvl8SIm
The children were thrilled to receive their commemorative books about Queen Elizabeth to mark her Platinum Jubilee. All children in state-funded primary schools have been given a copy of this special book. @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/tsI61jZHwl
The children have been enthralled watching our painted lady caterpillars change into beautiful butterflies. This week we released them into our Tiny Forest. A magical moment! @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/XQTOe7J89i
This week in nursery our story focus has been The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. The children have shown a real interest in sunflowers so, following their lead, we have explored the works of the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. So much joy in creativity! @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/bTlBoP9rsh
Our inter-generational work resumed today, bringing together our Y2 children with the elderly clients of the Askarne Day Centre. The children read to their new friends, chatted over a drink and a biscuit and drew together. We can't wait for their next visit! @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/v97YZeg0eD
Tomorrow is going to be very warm. Follow these top tips for staying safe in the sun . @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/DIrnMwA5NT
Parents of children who will be entering Littlemoor Nursery in September came to a welcome meeting after school. They found out about the routines in nursery and were given a tour of our inviting learning environment. Home visits are taking place next week. @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/Jfgm4gQhcg
A KS1 rounders competition took place at Campsmount Academy this afternoon, organised and run by Leger Trust's PE coaches. All the children competed so well and Littlemoor came back with the trophy. What a team! @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/0UHxHcUdgR
Today we said farewell to Reverend Franklin who has been a school governor across the Askern schools for nine years. He has made a significant contribution to our governing bodies and will be sorely missed. We had a special buffet and Y2 & Y3 children sang to him. @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/ZLJshgMZvM
The children in nursery have been exploring the theme of growth and life. They visited our Tiny Forest, printed with vegetables, compared the weight and size of new potatoes and threaded dandelions. Lots of purposeful play linked to the children's interests. @LegerEdTrust https://t.co/CJy9LwuXox
