At Askern Littlemoor Infant Academy, Religious Education plays an important role in helping children develop respect, understanding and appreciation of different beliefs, cultures and ways of life. Through RE, pupils learn about Christianity and a range of other world religions and worldviews, enabling them to understand the diverse society in which they live.

We use Pennine Learning RE to support our curriculum planning. This follows the Doncaster Agreed Religious Education Syllabus and is structured around three key themes:

Believing

Pupils explore questions about faith, belief and identity. They learn about what people believe, why beliefs are important and how faith can influence people's lives.

Expressing

Pupils learn how beliefs and values are expressed through worship, celebrations, symbols, stories, rituals, art, music and festivals. They explore how religion can help people express their identity and sense of belonging.

Living

Pupils consider how beliefs influence the way people live their lives. They explore values such as kindness, respect, compassion and responsibility, making links between religious teachings and everyday life.

Our RE curriculum encourages children to ask questions, reflect on their own experiences and develop an understanding of the beliefs and traditions of others. Through discussion, storytelling, visits, visitors and memorable learning experiences, pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to thrive in a diverse and multicultural world.

We promote curiosity, respect and open-mindedness, ensuring that every child feels valued and supported in exploring different beliefs and worldviews. Through RE, pupils develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their community and the wider world.
