Littlemoor welcomes the Tour de Yorkshire

We were really excited to welcome the Tour de Yorkshire to Askern.

In the build up to the event all the children created eye catching handprint bunting that was used to decorate the school gates and was also displayed around the centre of Askern.

The drama began even before the race started with around 200 Littlemoor children and staff getting absolutely drenched in a torrential downpour as we set off to spectate this great cycling event. As we have come to expect from our friendly and supportive community, Dave at The Welfare welcomed us all inside to shelter from the weather; we sat the bar and around the pool table- wherever we could fit! It’s a memory of the day that will stay with us- thanks again, Dave!

As the sun came out, we lined the A19 to cheer on the cyclists, waving our flags and applauding anything that moved until the pelaton actually arrived. The spectacle of seeing over 100 cyclists and their entourage roaring through Askern is a memory that will stay with us all and is one that I know will remain with the children for a very long time.
