Year 1:
This year marks the beginning of Key Stage One. The children continue to develop their independence and positive learning behaviours they have worked on during the Early Years. We work hard to ensure all our children reach their full potential.
During the Summer Term in Year One, all children will take part in the statutory Phonics Screening Check. This is a 40 word reading test which is administered at school on a one to one basis. All children will practise the test throughout the year in readiness for this and your child's class teacher will report on your child's progress during the second parent's meeting in the spring term.
Year 2:
This important year marks the completion of Key Stage One. As part of preparing for their move into Key Stage Two, children are encouraged to develop greater independence in their learning. They should bring their reading books and diaries to school each day. Weekly homework must be completed, and pupils are expected to read regularly, complete Times Table Rockstars and practise their spellings at home.
